What a load of Barracks

Don’t know your Barrack from your Hillary. Wondering about the difference between a primary and a caucus? Well I’m afraid I’ve already heard more than enough.

Surely I can’t be the only one who is getting completely fed up with the coverage of American politics?

Now I lived in the States for three years as a kid. In fact one of my first political memories was my dad bringing back some beer mats to give to friends which had a big picture of Reagan in a cowboy hat, and the caption, “He may be the President of the most powerful nation on earth – but he’s never had a pint of Mansfield bitter.”

The contested US election which some believe George W stole finally finished in the town where I lived and my dad still does – Tallahassee. I have every episode of the West Wing on DVD. I like jeans. I have in the past frequents McDonalds far too much. I like the US.

Having said all of that, I have now got to the stage of being sick to the back teeth of all the coverage of US politics. Iain Dale is over there and I have no doubt that he will get some great coverage. ConservativeHome and the Spectator have some done some excellent analysis on US politics, but I’m afraid I am now bored to death with it all.

I’m not criticising those who have a fascination with US politics, but whether the next President is called McCain, Obama or Clinton, it just won’t make any difference to my daily life, whereas for a lot of people, the price of a pint of Mansfield probably does.
