Mandy’s back – and this time we’re angry

Mandy’s return tells you all you need to know about Labour.

This is man who – along with his buddy Alistair Campbell – did more than anyone to build up undeliverable expectations pre ’97, then went on to embed the culture of dishonesty post ’97, before having twice to resign in disgrace.

That Mandy returns as a peer when his government promised “democratic” reforms of the Lords which have never been delivered – and as a business minister at a time when Brown’s boom is busted, is a double slap to a the poor saps who took Mandy and Labour at its word eleven years ago.

Labour epitomised to perfection.

  1. It tells you all you need to know about the Tories that the man´s obvious competence and experience count for nothing – much more interested in the caricature.

  2. This is a sheer act of desperation, by a man that is sinking fast, just didn’t think he would go quite so low. Just goes to show..

  3. I think it´s a bit overblown – yes, it´s an act of desperation by Brown who is not so much sinking fast as already sunk, but its impact will be minimal politically. No one like Mandelson, so it won´t shore him up with any political group – it annoys the left, makes Brownites wary and – well you know what Tories think.

It may be good for Britain though, because he is one of the most competent politicians of his era. He hasn´t got much time to prove that, so again, the impact won´t be huge.
